The first serious snowfall of the year caused several accidents Monday and Tuesday, resulting in one death. According to state police, an SUV lost control at around 8:15 pm on northbound I-39 on the overpass crossing US 24, sliding into the path of a semitrailer truck. Both vehicles left the road and went into an embankment.

The driver of the SUV, Sharon Goldasich, 71, of McNabb was pronounced dead at the scene. According to Woodford County Coroner Tim Ruestman, Goldasich was traveling to visit family in Putnam County when the accident occurred.

The driver of the semi was unharmed.
