An overuse injury is typically a muscle or joint injury that is caused by any repetitive action or movement. These are seen in sports with such movements such as rowing, as well as jobs requiring repetitive movements, which can even be a desk job caused by typing throughout the day. Symptoms of an overuse injury may be swelling, tenderness, redness, limited range of motion of the affected area, and impaired function of the affected area.

There are some factors that may make it easier for a person to experience an overuse injury. One is the presence of an imbalance between strength and flexibility around certain joints of the body. This makes the body not fully equipped to smoothly conduct certain movements or it may make for poor form and technique in performing them, which can, of course, lead to an overuse injury. Another factor may be poor form itself, faulty equipment causing a person to perform a movement incorrectly or counterproductively, or weaknesses due to previous injuries that are unrelated to overuse and repetitive movements.

Some people’s specific features, such as an arched foot, may prove to be a disadvantage in certain contexts as well. This may be conducive to injury in some activities and these individuals may experience chronic overuse injuries throughout their lifetime. It is important to simply take every proper precaution possible in order to avoid such an injury from occurring. Other times, it may not be your fault that you sustained this injury.

If another person caused your injuries, you can file a claim against them for monetary damages.
