Illinois State Police identified the truck driver killed in the accident on I-57 at milepost 103 on Monday. Raymond Burt, 44, of Kentwood, Louisiana, was killed when his semi-truck rear-ended another truck driven by T.J. Cork Dilbert, 32, of Jacksonville, Florida. Both vehicles were traveling northbound.

According to police, Dilbert was at the entrance ramp when he saw a vehicle merging onto the interstate. He slowed to accommodate the vehicle and Burt failed to reduce speed to avoid the accident. The impact forced both semi-trucks onto the right shoulder.

Burt was ejected from the truck. A passenger in the other truck, Jenely Dilbert, 32, of Jacksonville, and Burt were both transported to the hospital with injuries. Burt was later pronounced dead by the Jefferson County coroner.
