- In July of 2019, a 4-year-old boy was pulled out of a backyard pool unconscious. He was found after being missing for some time and a search party member pulled him out, meaning he had been in there for hours. The pool did not have a fence, which is a violation of Illinois law.
- In August of 2016, an 8-year-old girl was pronounced dead after an accidental drowning at Colony West Swim Club. Reports say she was underwater anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute when lifeguards pulled her out and attempted to resuscitate her. She died four days after being taken to the hospital and several attempts to revive her.
