They not only offer truck rentals, they also contract fleet maintenance, full-service truck leasing, and used truck sales. Penske Logistics, a subsidiary of Penske, also offers supply chain and logistics solutions.

Penske and Penske Logistics combined have 36,000 employees worldwide and revenues of approximately $8.4 billion dollars annually. Penske is still headquartered in Greater Reading, Pennsylvania. While Penske is a relatively safe trucking company, accidents do occur.

If you or a loved one has been injured in an accident due to another driver’s negligence, we at 844 See Mike are here for you every step of the way to ensure that your rights are protected, and you are fully compensated for your injuries and losses.

Penske Truck Statistics

These inspections uncovered 140 unsafe driver violations, 103 hours of service violations, 277 vehicle maintenance violations, 1 drug/alcohol violation, and 66 driver fitness violations.

Compared to national averages, Penske was quite low in its out of service rates. The national average for out of service vehicles is 20.7% and Penske comes in at 2.2%. For drivers, the national average is 5.5%, for Penske it is 1.5%. For hazmat Penske has 1.0% of its vehicles out of service, where the national average is 4.5%

Also, in the past two years, Penske was involved in 276 crashes. Of these crashes, 182 were property damage/tow-away accidents only, 88 involved at least one injury, and 6 were fatal.

Causes of Truck Accidents

Truck driving is a difficult occupation and truck drivers are on the road for long stretches of time, making them prone to errors that put other drivers at-risk for accidents, injuries, and wrongful death.

The most common causes of trucking accidents include:

  • Distracted driving-Distracted driving can include texting, checking emails or social media, daydreaming, eating and drinking, using a GPS system, doing paperwork, or playing with the radio. Whatever a truck driver is doing that takes his or her eyes from the roadway is putting other drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists in danger.
  • Fatigue-Truck drivers are paid by the mile and often feel pressured to deliver their cargo as quickly as possible. The FMCSA regulates the amount of time a truck driver can be behind the wheel and how many breaks they must take however truck drivers frequently disregard this.
  • Negligent maintenance-Trucking companies often try to cut corners and even though maintenance schedules are regulated by the FMCSA, they may not always be routinely followed. Faulty equipment, especially brake systems, can cause catastrophic injuries.
  • Driver error-Trucking companies are required to put only trained, safe drivers on the roadways. Drivers who are improperly trained, inexperienced, or under the influence of drugs or alcohol cannot make safe decisions.

Truck Accident Compensation

Being involved in a truck accident is frightening. Following a truck accident, you are not only dealing with considerable pain, you are often faced with extensive bills and you may wonder what compensation you may be entitled to.

I rented a truck and trailer for s move from North Dakota to Texas. During the move one if the rim split into two while traveling down the interstate. It's alot to type but the short of it is I believe the equipment was faulty and no prior inspection was done for the trailer. The employee assured me it was inspected and safe. The vehicle preparation form was not filled out. I have pictures of the broken rim and the shredded tire. This company endangered my family.
