The employer can be sued for wrongful death for putting the employee or allowing the employee to be in that situation. This is more typical of manual labor or generally risky jobs with poor working conditions.
• Fires, where someone can be found culpable for starting a fire that consequently killed one or more people. Whoever started the fire may have started it negligently if it ended up killing others, so they can be found guilty in a wrongful death case.
