Hartsburg Man Killed in Logan County Accident

A 52-year-old man from Hartsburg was killed after a one-car accident on Illinois 121 in Logan County on Thursday night. Steven Newman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Illinois State Police. Authorities believe the accident was medical-related.
Newman was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze south on Illinois 131 past Lincoln Parkway just before 10 pm when he crossed into the northbound lane and left the highway. His car went down the embankment and into a ditch, striking a utility pole. The accident is still being investigated and Newman was not wearing a seat belt, according to police.
