Bond was set at $50,000 for former Will County board member Michael Wisniewski for failing to report a collision involving a personal injury and leaving the scene of the accident. Wisniewski, 63, of Naperville allegedly struck a pedestrian on Wagner Road near Walter Lane at about 7:45 am on Thursday, November 7th.

According to Will County sheriff’s spokesperson Ken Kaupas, two people walking their dogs called police after hearing a thump when the vehicle drove past and found a man injured in the grass. The man was transported to Edward Hospital and Health Services. A relative of the man said Friday that he was in intensive care with a brain injury but is expected to recover.

Wisniewski was taken into custody on Thursday afternoon after a deputy searching the area found a red SUV in his driveway, just 120 yards from the scene of the accident, and Wisniewski made self-incriminating statements, according to Kaupas.

Wisniewski’s vehicle matched the description provided by the witnesses and its side mirror and passenger-side headlight were damaged. According to Kraupas, there was no indication alcohol was involved and witnesses said the vehicle’s windows were frosted over. Each of the charges has a sentence of up to 3 years in prison if convicted.
