A broker serves as a middleman or intermediary that represents the insured. Like an insurance agent, however, a broker must have proper State licensing in Illinois to conduct business. The broker must undergo pre-licensing requirements and must take and pass the producer examination. After getting the results, the applicant must wait five (5) days before applying for a license.
