Aurora, which is just outside the Chicago metro area, is Illinois’s second-largest city and home to about 200,000 people. Known to some as the “City of Lights,” Aurora also extends into four different counties – DuPage, Kane, Kendall, and Will – and over one-third of the population is between 25 and 44 years old. Roads can occasionally become congested, especially in the summer months when visitors pass through to see Matthiessen State Park or Senachwine Lake.

Here are some recent motorcycle accidents in the Aurora area:

  • In September 2014, a motorcyclist and female passenger collided with a Nissan Sentra which allegedly turned left in front of them at the wrong time. The female motorcycle-passenger suffered rib and back injuries and was taken to a Chicago hospital, while the male motorcyclist was taken to an Aurora hospital where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Sentra was cited for failure to yield when making a left-hand turn.
  • In North Aurora over the Fourth of July weekend of 2015, a motorcyclist collided with a large semi-trailer truck near Route 31 on Westbound 188. He was taken to a nearby hospital and unfortunately lost his life to the accident.

Motorcyclists are far more vulnerable than automobile-passengers when accidents occur, and these accidents often result in serious injuries and even death.
