5 Killed in McLeansboro Accident

A Colliinsville teen and four others were killed in a car accident in southeastern Illinois on November 24. According to a Hamilton County Sheriff, six people were in a Chevy Trailblazer when it lost control and flipped in McLeansboro at 10:24 pm. Five people were ejected, with one trapped inside while wearing a seat belt.

Three of those killed were family members, according to police. These victims were identified as Robert, 49, Lori, 42, Parker, and Tammy DeLong, 23, from Collinsville. A fourth victim, 23-year-old Diana Wright, was also pronounced dead at the scene. A 16-year-old was also killed in the accident.

The 16-year-old victim was later identified as Katelynn Fancher, a sophomore of Collinsville High School. A sixth passenger, identified as Darrell Delong, 49, was airlifted to a nearby hospital. Only Robert Parker was wearing a seat belt.

The driver, Darrell Delong, is the only survivor of the crash and the accident occurred while he was going “hill-jumping” in the car, a popular pastime in the area with four large hills. His wife and daughter were killed in the accident.

Two Killed in Pre-Thanksgiving Crash in Milan A single-car accident in Milan killed two people and left the driver in the hospital. According to police, the accident occurred in the 9500 block of 51st Street West early Wednesday morning. The Rock Island Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene just prior to 1 am.

Police found the 23-year-old driver fro Andalusia, who was transported to the hospital with injuries. Two passengers, a 22-year-old woman from Port Byron and a 24-year-old man fromm Taylor Ridge, died from their injuries.

The crash is still under investigation and pending toxicology results, although police believe alcohol was involved.
