3 People Hurt in Separate Hit-and-Run Incidents in Chicago
A 17-year-old girl critically hurt after being struck by a pickup truck in the Logan Square area is just one of three pedestrians hurt in hit-and-run incidents in Chicago in just eight hours, according to police. A black pickup truck hit the girl at 7:30 pm on Tuesday in the crosswalk of the 3700 block of Fullterton Avenue according to Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer. She was transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
According to police, the pickup truck driver continued driving west. In a separate accident, a man in his 30’s was hit by a red Pontiac Grand Prix at approximately 6:05 pm on Tuesday as he walked across the crosswalk of the 5100 block of Fullerton Avenue. He was transported to Illinois Masonic as well and listed in critical condition.
In this case, the 18-year-old driver failed to stop, by later turned himself in to police. As of early Wednesday morning, he had not been charged. The third accident caused a pedestrian to sustain injuries after being hit by a dark-colored car in the 5500 block of West North Avenue at around 2:00 am on Wednesday. The pedestrian’s age and gender were not released, although they were transported to Loyola University Medical Center in critical condition. The driver was later arrested but has not been charged yet.
