1 Killed, 4 Hurt in Joliet Car Accident

An unidentified 74-year-old Lockport woman was killed early Saturday morning in an accident at the intersection of Louis Road and Illinois 53 in Joliet, according to Illinois State Police.

The accident occurred at around 9:20 am, when the victim, driving a Mercury Sable, attempted to cross the intersection. Her vehicle was hit by a male driver in a Chevrolet Tahoe driving northbound on Route 53/Chicago Street.

The Tahoe struck her car on the driver’s side, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver and three passengers in the Tahoe were transported to hospitals for treatment, although the extend of their injuries was not released.
