Property Damage (PD)
Based on the Illinois Department of Transportation Crash Statistics, personal cars accounted for the most fatalities and injuries in 2018. Consequently, vehicular damages are common during accidents. Fortunately, the State of Illinois requires drivers to have auto insurances, primarily, Liability Coverage which insures property damage.
Liability Coverage pays for two types of separate coverages, namely, Bodily Injury (BI) and Property Damage (PD). Per the Illinois Vehicle Code, PD is at least $20,000 per accident and covers damage to the other party’s vehicle or to properties like fences and poles.
Keep in mind that the State of Illinois has minimum requirements for auto insurance coverage. While responsible driving is your primary protection from auto accidents, having insurance will keep you from being financially blindsided in the case of traffic mishaps.
