On Friday, August 30, 2013, a CTA bus collided with a semi truck on Chicago’s Near West Side; several people were injured and a HAZMAT team was called in. Around 10:20 a.m. in the morning, the bus and truck collided in the 2400 block of West 15th Place near South Western Avenue. The Fire Media Affairs department said five people were transported to hospital in fair-to-serious condition, one was transported in good condition, and 18 people refused treatment. None of the injuries were life-threatening. The level one HAZMAT response was also called to the accident scene, to clean up a diesel fuel spill.
