Several felony and misdemeanor charges were filed against a Wilmette woman on Tuesday. According to police, the woman was involved in a series of hit-and-run accidents in Evanston on Sunday, leaving one person in serious condition in the hospital.

Annemarie T. O’Shaughnessy, 63, was charged with felony aggravated fleeing and eluding police, felony leaving the scene of an accident involving injury, misdemeanor reckless driving, and a charge for damaging property.

O’Shaughnessy was also issued 13 traffic-related citations, including six offenses for leaving the scene of an accident and failing to provide information in an accident.

According to police, O’Shaughnessy was alone in the vehicle at 10:00am on Sunday when she hit a vehicle at Ridge Avenue and Davis Street before driving off and hitting another vehicle and a woman on a motor scooter in the 600 block of Chicago Avenue. O’Shaughnessy did not stop and drove for about half a mile, striking a man on a bike in the intersection of Main Street and Custer Avenue.

The woman driving the scooter was taken to Presence St. Francis Hospital and treated for minor injuries. The man on the bicycle was taken to the same hospital and listed in serious condition on Monday.

Police received several 911 calls describing O’Shaughnessy’s vehicle and allegations of her driving and were able to stop her in the 4600 block of Main Street in Skokie. A preliminary screening for drugs and alcohol were negative, although further tests were performed and sent to the Illinois State Police Crime Lab.

According to police, O’Shaughnessy’s vehicle sustained severe damage from the accidents. The damage on the driver side door seems to have resulted from a heavy impact not accounted for based on the investigation of the three accidents on Sunday. Police are asking the public for information related to an additional crash.
