If you suspect disc herniation, you should visit your physician for proper evaluation and treatment. Aside from treatment or therapy as prescribed by your physician you should also refrain from doing the following:
- Exercises that put pressure on your back and neck (crunches/situps, leg raises, squats, toe touch, deadlifts, leg press, and biking/cycling)
- Sleeping on your stomach
- Wearing high heels
- Sitting for extended periods
- Carrying/lifting heavyweights (shoveling and gardening)
- Bending forward, twisting, or extending your arms (exercises, vacuuming)
