Two Injured in Accident Near Springfield

Two residents of Menard County were taking to the hospital after a two-car crash at Illinois 97 and 125 on Tuesday.

Linda Watts, 55 of Tallula and Arthur Newman, 78, of Petersburg, were hurt in the accident, which happened at about 5:20 pm. A second passenger in Watts’ vehicle was uninjured, according to police.

The accident occurred as Watts was driving east on Illinois 125 and tried to turn left on Illinois 97. Her van struct a sedan driven by Mari Moore, 47. Watts was cited for failure to yield while turning.
