Tractor and Truck Involved in Accident in Douglas County

According to police, a tractor driver sustained injuries after his equipment was hit by a tractor-trailer in Douglas County early Monday morning. Both vehicles were driving northbound on Illinois Route 49 northeast of Newman. The accident occurred at 10:50 am on Monday, according to Illinois State Police. The tractor driver, Cory F. Williams, 27, was trying to turn left when the truck driver, John A. King, 74, tried to pass on the left.
The truck ended up sideswiping the tractor and both vehicles ended up in the fields. Williams was transported by helicopter to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, but no additional information is available and the accident is under investigation.
