A man from Bolingbrook was killed Saturday night after being struck by a car in west suburban Downers Grove, according to police. Stephan Szela, 60, was crossing the road at the 4200 block of Main Street just after 9 pm when a vehicle driving south struck him.

Szela was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, just four blocks from the scene, where he was pronounced dead. According to Lt. Michael Willison, the preliminary investigation shows no signs of speeding or impairment contributing to the accident, but it is still being classified as a death investigation and the final cause of death has not yet been determined.
