One Killed in Accident

A single-car accident has left one person dead and one injured. Theresa Boester, 80, of Marion was killed when her husband John fell asleep at the wheel and their vehicle, causing the car to leave the road on southbound Illinois 37 near Fly Avenue in Goreville on Friday.

The car hit a concrete culvert after traveling down an embankment. Theresa Boester was transported to Heartland Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead, according to police.

The driver, John, suffered 2 broken wrists and potential internal injuries. Both people were wearing seat belts and no citations were issued.
