Most of us are pedestrians in auto-traffic areas at some point of each day, and no human body is a match for a heavy motor vehicle. If you’ve been seriously injured in a traffic accident, you may be entitled to significant compensation for your lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering.

Here are some of the more serious injuries which can be sustained when a pedestrian is struck by a motor vehicle:

Soft tissue injuries – These can include a variety of injuries, such as bruises, sprains, tears, dislocations, and lacerations. Many require little medical intervention, but can be quite painful and disrupt the victim’s routine activities for weeks or even months after the accident.
Spinal cord injuries (SCIs) – These are among the most serious injuries to a pedestrian and involve physical trauma or damage to the spinal cord or column. The spinal cord is, of course, responsible for transmitting signals from the brain to other parts of the body, so these injuries can have serious consequences and even result in permanent paralysis below the point of damage.
Traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) – TBIs occur when force to a person’s head results in disrupted brain-function. Pedestrians in accidents are prone to suffering TBIs due to the lack of head protection, and victims of severe TBIs may develop long-term psychological and even physical disabilities which can permanently affect their quality of life.
