A herniated disc is typical for older people. It’s a common back injury that may heal on its own or require medical treatment and interventions depending on the severity. Disc herniation happens when the nucleus found in the vertebrae is pushed out, putting pressure on the spinal nerve, and causing pain.
According to the Mayo Clinic, most disc herniation happens in the lower back but may also occur in the neck and normally affect one side of the body. The pain will generally depend on where the slipped disc occurred and if it’s pressing against the nerve but is characterized by burning or sharp sensation. Disc herniation on the lower back will cause pain in the hips, thighs, buttocks, and calf while herniation on the neck will typically affect the arms and shoulders.
If your herniated disc is caused by a personal injury, we can help you ease the financial burden of treatment and recovery. Back injuries may greatly impair your quality of life and having the financial capacity to cover your medical expenses and even lost earnings may ease the burden of the injury.
