A head-on accident between a pickup truck and a tractor trailer on Illinois Route 159 near Dorsey on Tuesday required the driver of the pickup to be cut out of his vehicle.

The Dorsey Fire Department responded to the accident between Renken and Seiler near Dorsey at about 10 am, with Illinois State Police and fire departments from Prairietown and Holiday Shores providing aid.

The accident occurred when the front corners of the southbound trailer and northbound pickup truck collided. The truck drive was trapped in the vehicle and had to be cut out. He remained conscious and alert.

The driver was taken to a St. Louis hospital by helicopter. His condition is unknown. The tractor trailer driver refused treatment at the scene.
