According to Illinois State Police, one person was killed when a car and dump truck collided on the Dan Ryan Expressway, forcing the northbound lanes closed for hours. The accident occurred on Friday afternoon when a car clipped the front of the truck and caused it to strike the concrete median.

A spokesperson for the Chicago Fire Department said the truck driver was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, while a second person refused medical attention. The victims have not been identified. The crash happened around 2 pm north of where I-57 merges with I-94 on Chicago’s South Side, and the northbound lanes were closed until 6:30.
