On Friday, the Chicago train operator who admitted to falling asleep before crashing a commuter train at Chicago O’Hare International Airport was fired, according to officials.

The operator, who was not identified by officials, admitted to falling asleep behind the controls shortly before the eight-car train derailed at the station and vaulted up an escalator on March 24. More than thirty people were injured in the accident.

Chicago Transit Authority spokesman Brian Steele said the woman, who had been a train operator for just two months, told investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board last week that she fell asleep. She also admitted to falling asleep on the job in February after stopping past another station.

While investigators do not believe the work schedule caused her to fall asleep, the CTA has said they will make changes to their scheduling guidelines.
