Carbon monoxide has been given the name, “the silent killer” for being an odorless, colorless gas that can build up in a home and cause deadly carbon monoxide poisoning. It is generated particularly more easily when gas machines are used indoors or malfunction. It can also be released around people with errors with a home’s furnace, tobacco smoke, or a car has its engine on within an enclosed space for too long. It can kill people very slowly over time as they physically deteriorate or if it is in a high concentration it can work quickly. The only way to detect it is through a carbon monoxide detector, so it is important that wherever you are, there is a fully functional detector always working.

If you are in any business or corporation where there is a carbon monoxide leak, you can hold them liable for causing your condition or injury due to negligence. In an apartment building, you can hold the property owner liable. Both types of defendants have a duty of care to keep their customers, workers, and tenants safe on their property. So, to have a carbon monoxide leak is to be acting negligently by putting others in danger.
