The mayor of Brookport was involved in a two-car accident and airlifted to Evansville, Indiana for injuries. The accident occurred on the 7800 block of Purcell on Friday, but no information is yet available.
The mayor, John Klaffer, sustained broken legs, arms, a wrist, injuries to his back, and a fractured neck. The Brookport Council will hold a meeting to choose an interim mayor.
