A 12-year-old boy suffered bruises and scrapes early morning on Wednesday, September 25 when his bicycle was hit by a car at the intersection of Middaugh Road and Chicago Avenue. Clarendon Hills police responded to the scene at 7:43 am and found that the 17-year-old Clarendon Hills driver had struck the young boy while turning left onto Chicago Avenue from Middaugh. The Clarendon Hills Middle School student was riding his bike across the crosswalk when the accident occurred.

Police determined that the 17-year-old driver’s vision was affected by bright sunlight, which made it difficult to see the boy crossing. The 12-year-old was taken to Adventist Hinsdale Hospital with fairly minor, non-life-threatening injuries. According to Clarendon Hills Police Chief Ted Jenkins, the driver has not been cited for the accident and he was making a left turn on a green light, although an investigation is ongoing.
