Alarming Case Of Elder Abuse
A disturbing incident of abuse in Columbia, Maryland has led to a woman’s arrest on multiple counts of assault. Video of Donna Everett abusing an intellectually disabled man in her care surfaced on Youtube; Everett’s employer contacted the Howard County police department after discovering it. She has since posted $100,000 bond and awaits trial for assault.
Everett, 57, was house manager at a group home in Columbia. On the Youtube video, “she can be seen striking the man in the head, face and neck, and spitting in the man’s face,” police said. Besides this, she also taunted and encouraged a female resident with disabilities to join her in abusing the disabled man. Everett is charged with abusing a 53-year-old disabled man and endangering a 41-year-old disabled woman. Other voices can be heard laughing in the video; police are working to identify them.
