Three people were killed after a deadly crash on Interstate 64 in Jefferson County near mile marker 69 close to the Woodlawn exit. Police were called to the scene shortly before 2:00 am Thursday. According to Jefferson County Coroner Eddie Marks, the driver of a Camero fell asleep and pulled into the path of an SUV driving eastbound. The SUV swerved and rolled many times, ejecting three people.

All three people were pronounced dead at the scene, and the coroner identified the victims as Luther Wyatt, 51, Deloris Jones, 52, and Roberta Jones, 57, all from Mt. Vernon. The driver of the Camero was transported to an Mt. Vernon hospital. He was later identified as Aaron Myers, 20, of Simpson, Illinois. He was cited for violating a license restriction requiring corrective lenses and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. The accident is still under investigation.
