3-Car Accident on I-72 Causes Traffic Jam

A three-car accident tied up traffic early Monday, October 7th between 6th Street and MacArthur Boulevard in Springfield. The accident occurred when an 89-year-old man from Springfield entered the highway in the wrong direction and struck two vehicles head-on. The man is still in the hospital.

He crashed into a 45-year-old woman, who was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The individuals in the third vehicle were not hurt, and the highway opened again shortly after 10:00 am.
