12-Year-Old Killed in Accident, Car Driven by 13-Year-Old
A 12-year-old boy was killed and three children were injured Wednesday afternoon in a car accident in south suburban Olympia Fields in Chicago. The accident happened around 12:45 pm in the 600 block of Brookwood Terrace, according to police. Authorities believe the driver, a 13-year-old girl, was speeding.
All four passengers in the vehicle were under 16 years old and all were residents of Olympia Fields. Armani Kreamer, 12, was pronounced dead at Franciscan St. James Health at 2:21 pm, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
According to Kreamer’s mother, the boy was grounded but snuck out of the house for a joy ride with friends. The three other children in the vehicle were transported to the hospital.
Anapam Razdan, witness to the scene, said he was surprised anyone survived the accident. “There was some movement in the car and I kept hearing some women or girls screaming and saying, ‘Oh, let me out, let me out, look at the car.'”
Police are still investigating the accident.
