A 52-year-old man from Georgia was pronounced dead at the scene of a single car crash on I-55 at the Rail Splitter rest stop near Williamsville on December 27, according to police.

The man was driving a 34-foot box truck and exited the rest area early in the morning into the northbound lanes of the interstate when his truck went off the ramp, rolling onto its side.

A passenger in his truck, a 27-year-old man from California, was not injured. Both were wearing seat belts.
