A van crashed into the side of a CTA bus in South Chicago, killing the van’s driver and injuring three others. The accident happened at 12:45 am at South Chicago and Commercial Avenues in front of a fire station, whose crews responded.

The driver of the van was pronounced dead after being transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center. Two occupants were listed in serious to critical condition, according to police. The CTA driver was taken to the hospital for observation. There were no passengers on the CTA bus.

The van hit the bus close to the passenger-side back tire as the bus was almost through the intersection.
