An insurance claim is an insured’s request for coverage or compensation for damage or loss covered in the policy. The compensation will depend on the type of coverage you have. The minimum auto insurance requirement in Illinois, however, is the liability coverage which covers bodily injury (BI) and property damage (PD).

The State of Illinois requires a minimum of $25,000 per person for BI or $50,000 per accident. For PD, the State requires at least $20,000. If you have optional coverage, your claim may increase, however, your rates will increase as well after filing for a claim.
